[AUSTIN, TX] – The Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the 2024 Austin LGBT Chamber Education Fund Scholarships. This year, $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to deserving students who are passionate about pursuing higher education and have demonstrated a commitment to supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

The Austin LGBT Chamber Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, has long been dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ and allied students in their educational pursuits. Through the generous support of our members and donors, we have been able to provide financial assistance to students seeking opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.

To be eligible for the Austin LGBT Chamber Education Fund Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be a Texas resident.*
• Identify as LGBTQ+, be a member of an LGBTQ+ family, or an ally with a history of active support for the LGBTQ+ community.
• Be pursuing a certificate program, undergraduate degree (associate or bachelor’s), or graduate degree.
• Be enrolled or planning to enroll in the next academic year at a community college, four-year public or private college/university, or vocational/technical/trade program.
• Current high school seniors, current students, and those planning to enroll in the next academic year are eligible to apply.

*Applicants are considered residents if they currently live in Texas and have done so for at least three months prior to the application deadline; have lived in Texas for at least one year at any time in the five years prior to the application deadline; or have lived in Texas for more than one year at any time and have been continuously enrolled in an accredited academic institution for the five years prior to the application deadline.

Application requirements include an academic transcript (official or unofficial), resume, short essay responses, and optional letter(s) of recommendation.

Applications will be carefully reviewed by a team of community volunteers from the Chamber’s Education Fund Board of Directors. Semi-finalists will be notified in mid-November 2024 and invited for an interview via Zoom or phone. The final scholarship recipients will be introduced to the community in person or via video at our annual Business of Pride Awards Gala in December 2024.
