Austin LGBT Chamber Membership Standards & Code of Ethics

All Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce members agree to uphold the following Membership Standards & Code of Ethics.

We, as members of Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, recognize that membership is a privilege, and we strive to recognize, promote, and improve LGBTQ+ and allied business and the LGBTQ+ and allied business community and to that end, agree to be honor-bound by these Standards of Business Conduct and Ethics:

 

  1. Commit to maintaining environments free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and to treating ALL individuals with dignity and respect regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, age, disability, marital status, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
  2. Respect the reputation, profile and status of the Austin LGBT  Chamber of Commerce, and represent the Chamber accordingly. 
  3. Understand support and promote the Mission Statement of the Austin LGBT  Chamber of Commerce and co-operate with fellow members in the application of this Code of Conduct. 
  4. Whenever reasonably possible, participate in the functions and activities of the Chamber, and promote the enhancement of business growth in and around the greater Austin region. 
  5. Observe the highest standards of ethics in rendering services and/or offering products for sale, based on the members’ own knowledge and expertise. 
  6. Refrain from engaging in any practices prohibited by law or seeking unfair advantage over fellow members. 
  7. Refrain from publicly disparaging the business practices of fellow members and refrain from condoning or engaging in misrepresentation or unethical practices. 
  8. Abide by the Mission Statement and bylaws of the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce.

 

Be it known that, the failure to adhere to the professional and personal obligations of the Austin LGBT  Chamber of Commerce, as outlined above, and defined in the Chamber Bylaws, can result in the termination of membership. 

 

Web Content Submission Policy and Mission Alignment Clause

(Events, Job Postings, Member Discounts + More)

The Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to approve, edit, decline, or remove any member content submissions (event listings, job postings, core partner blog postings, member discounts, etc.) at our sole discretion. All submitted content must align with the Chamber’s mission to support the economic vitality, equity, and professional advancement of LGBTQ+ and allied businesses.

Events that include political campaigning, religious proselytizing, or content not aligned with the Chamber’s values of inclusivity, nonpartisanship, and business advocacy may be rejected. This includes—but is not limited to—events that promote or are sponsored by religious organizations where the primary purpose is religious in nature rather than business-related or community-serving.

As a nonreligious, nonprofit business association, the Chamber maintains a position of religious neutrality and does not permit use of its platforms for the advancement of religious agendas, regardless of denomination or belief system.
