Propositions

Travis County Child Care Proposition A

The Austin LGBT Chamber Board of Directors endorses Proposition A this November, recognizing affordable childcare as a key to economic growth. With Travis County having the highest childcare costs in Texas, this measure aims to expand access, especially for evening and weekend care, while building quality and capacity. Proposition A will also create new opportunities for businesses and stabilize providers, particularly in the Spanish-speaking community. By making childcare more affordable, we can reduce workforce turnover, boost productivity, and strengthen the local economy. We urge voters to support this initiative for a more prosperous future in Central Texas.

The Diversity Ethnic Chamber Alliance (DECA) has also endorsed Proposition A. DECA is comprised of the Austin LGBT, Greater Austin Hispanic, Greater Austin Asian, and Greater Austin Black Chambers of Commerce.

Austin ISD Voter Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE)

The Austin LGBT Chamber Board of Directors supports the Voter-approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) proposed by the Austin Independent School District (AISD) Board of Trustees. The health and vitality of our economy in Central Texas rely on a highly educated workforce and quality public schools. We urge AISD voters to vote in favor of this ballot measure to ensure we have a local talent development pipeline where every student is prepared with the knowledge and skills to thrive in college, career, and life.
